Costume-less with just days to go until Halloween?  Don’t like the idea of spending tons of time or money on a costume you only wear once? Look no further than this guide, which utilizes items from your own closet and a little creativity to create brag-worthy costumes.

1. Hipster

For those seeking comfort and affordability, try dressing up as our generations’ most notorious subculture. Grab some big black frames, a plaid shirt and leggings, and you’re good to go. Alternatively, you could find a vintage-inspired dress and cool tights to pair with your glasses. Bonus points if you look up a bunch of obscure music to brag about to your friends.

2. Schoolgirl (And Variations)

Bust out your white button down, wool skirts and knee-high socks for plenty of Halloween options. You could go as a garden-variety school girl and rock the outfit plain. For more flair borrow a red, blue, green or yellow tie to go as a Hogwarts student, or put your hair up in pigtails to be Britney Spears circa “Baby, One More Time.”

3. Ninja

Throw on an all-black ensemble and appropriate accessories – head sash, gloves, numchucks – and get ready to creep all night long.

4. Pirate

If you have any kind of puffy or button down shirt, cool vest and swashbucklin’ boots, you’re good to go. Just pick up a pirate hat from a Halloween store, or rock a bandana and eye patch to complete the look. Throw in striped socks for extra style.

5. Assorted Animal Ears

If you’re truly desperate, get inspired by Mean Girls, where in Girl World, it’s “the one night a year when a girl can dress up like a total slut and no other girls can say anything.”  All you really need for a costume is a pair of animal ears and some lingerie – or whatever outfit you find appropriately sleek. Head to the nearest pop-up Halloween store or check online shops for your favorite kind of animal ears.
