For years, teenagers and young adults were glued to Gossip Girl since the pilot episode in 2007. Throughout six seasons, girls of all ages were able to watch each character, especially “Queen B” herself, grow and evolve while living in the infamous Upper East Side, Manhattan. Fans followed young Blair Waldorf, as she would strut through the concrete jungle decked in designer clothing topped with a statement headband. Having a taste of her lavish lifestyle left us picturing ourselves as Blair and being young and radiant in New York City.

Except most of us are, unfortunately not lucky enough to make it.

Let’s start with the obvious: money. Blair’s mother Eleanor Waldorf is the owner of Waldorf Designs, which is a fashion brand in New York City. How many of us can say that our parents are that successful? Not many. Even though the upper class in America counts for a small percentage of citizens, most of the upper class comes from Old Money. In Gossip Girl, Blair’s mother came from Old Money. Having money is a requirement to live the life that Blair does and quite frankly, having that much money or power may not be in our grasp.

What teenagers have that much access to alcohol? I find it rather intriguing to know how they are all going to bars and casually drinking like adults all while they are in high school. If you are that rich and privileged, are there any limits? Blair is constantly seen in numerous episodes casually drinking a cocktail at bars. Trying to order a cocktail at a bar as a teenager would humiliate me and I would most definitely be kicked out.

Three words: “I’m Chuck Bass”. Chuck is the modern day hero, prince charming, and everything in between. Through thick and thin, Chuck and Blair always find themselves back to each other. Blair absolutely has the love of her life in her grasp. To have an immature boy chase after you seems tiring but for him to turn into the most masculine and comforting boyfriend turned husband is every girls dream. Dating your high school sweetheart and marrying that person are true relationship goals. It is hard to find a man who is head over heels in love with you and would take on the world with you. But, that is what many girls seek: a young, handsome, successful Chuck Bass. Swoon!

Though the life of the rich and privileged is not within most people’s reach, living vicariously through the life of Blair Waldorf definitely is.

Set high goals and keep dreaming, you might end up attaining this sought after lifestyle.

After all,
