What to do in our Small Town

What to do in Lil’ Old Latrobe

College is great, and for a lot of students there’s no place they’d rather be.  Nevertheless, college can be very overwhelming, and sometimes it seems impossible to get away.  I’m here to tell you that there’s no harm in needing a break from the stressful college atmosphere once in a while, and Latrobe is full of little hidden treasures that are just perfect for a small getaway.  These great finds are just right around the corner!

1) We’re all familiar with Dairy Queen and Dunkin’ Donuts.  When will they start accepting meal swipes???  BUT, get out of your comfort zone!  There’s more to Latrobe than these delicious favorites.

2) Most of us probably haven’t been roller-skating since a 4th grade birthday party so why not go back in time at the Latrobe Skating Center?  Come on, you KNOW you miss doing the Cha Cha Slide while trying not to fall or crash into a wall.

3) Who doesn’t love a good game of bowling now and again?  Go to Lincoln Lanes!  But you might need to put the bumpers up… I know I do!

4) Statler’s Fun Center is the place to go for a day jam-packed with excitement.  They have everything from mini golf to go-karts.  They even have an awesome arcade and some batting cages.  You can’t possibly be bored!

5) Just want a quick game or two to prove you’re the champ?  Try out your mini golf skills at Mulligan’s Indoor Gulf.

6) At Escape Reality you can do just that by teaming up with some friends (or strangers) to try and master a themed escape room.  Get out fast before your friends drive you crazy!

7) Who could pass up dinner and a show?  That’s exactly what you get at Latrobe 30 Theatre & Café.

With the weather getting colder every day, these activities are great ways to spend a cold rainy Saturday with some friends.  As you can see, there’s much more to lil’ old Latrobe than meets the eye.

St Vincent '18

Hello there! I am the Campus Correspondent of the Her Campus chapter at Saint Vincent College. As a senior psychology major, I've made the most of my time in undergrad and am excited for all the doors I have opening ahead of me. I can definitely thank Her Campus for giving me invaluable skills. As a future psychologist, I hope that my articles (and the chapter's) are able to make you feel empowered, motivate you to start a conversation, and be kind. As a hero of mine has said, "If you do not take control over your time and your life, other people will gobble it up. If you don't prioritize yourself, you constantly start falling lower and lower on your list."- Michelle Obama. Be the change you want to see in the world, and smile. Always smile!
