1. What is your favorite thing about Saint Vincent?
Wow, this is a really difficult question! I love almost everything about SVC, but I have to say one of my favorites is the friendliness and sense of community that really makes this place home. I love that I can’t go anywhere on campus without seeing a friendly face smile and wave or having someone hold a door open for me. These things sound silly and small, but they really do add up to make Saint Vincent so special.
2. Why did you choose to become a prefect? What are the pros and cons of prefecting in your personal opinion?
I chose to become a prefect because I really loved the idea of being a resource for other students. I have always been very happy to help others, which is a big reason why I want to be a teacher. The biggest pro is easily the fact that I get to be there for all of my girls. There are 64 girls on my floor and I love every single one of them! It’s super great to get know everyone’s personality and to know that I can help them if they ever need it. Of course, every job has a few downsides, but I’d have to say my only complaint is that prefecting adds a lot of work to my schedule. Even though it can be rough at times, it is always worth the effort in the end!
3. Why did you come to Saint Vincent College for your education?
I chose Saint Vincent for so many reasons! In high school, I often went to my cross-country coach, Carly Meholic for life advice. When I got to my senior year and I was stressed about selecting a college, she introduced me to SVC, where she graduated in 2015. I trust Carly with pretty much everything, and this was one of the best decisions that she ever helped me make! I hope I am able to introduce some of my future students once I am an Alumna!
4. Tell me something about yourself that most people don’t know about you.
a. One thing that not very many people know about me is that I’m kind of super obsessed with flowers. I own so many floral things, and I feel that no room is complete without a fresh bouquet. I know that sounds super cheesy, but I’ve learned to really appreciate the little things in life, and flowers are the sweetest!
5. What are your future plans?
a. I hope to graduate from SVC in 2021 and find a job as a high school math teacher! My dream job would be working at my alma mater, Altoona Area High School! After I get a job, I will likely go back to school for my master’s degree in curriculum and instruction.
