If there were one television series that has had a lasting effect on me in my life, I would have to say it is One Tree Hill. One Tree Hill had a way of effortlessly drawing in its audience and making them feel as though they were experiencing life right alongside the characters. From the hardships that relationships can bring to insecurities about the self, to depression, to even very true to life and frightening situations such as school shootings; the show embodied it all and tackled huge issues unafraid. I really felt as though I could identify and have experienced many situations that each of us, I am sure, has endured. Ultimately, I can say that I have found that a lot of great advice can be taken from the perfection that is One Tree Hill upon pursuing moving forward in life.

1. Never feel as though you have to defend who you are. Who you are always has and forever will be enough.

2. You should learn to go against the grain and trust your gut instinct. Be sure to make decisions from the heart but make sure to use your head to make it work out.

3. Sometimes… no matter how hard it is to face; it’s best to just let things go and accept that you won’t always get the all the answers you feel like you deserve.

4. It’s okay to simply not know right now. Sometimes we get off track in life and become very unsure of ourselves; but it is in these moments that we often find ourselves.

5. Whenever you love somebody, don’t wait. Tell them. Life is too short and love is too strong to just simply let it pass away and ignore.

6. Always take a time out of your day to enjoy the moment and let loose. Remember to have fun and dance like no one’s watching. I mean after all, we are all here for a good time, not a long time.

7. Even with all of the injustice in the world, never stop choosing to be the bigger person and set out on a different path. Remember that who you are and what you can bring to the table is important and essential to the world.

8. People are always going to try to hinder your journey and drag you down. Don’t let them get the best of you. Oh and if for any reason people are putting you down based upon your appearance, remember… “Zero is not a size.”

9. Remember that your best is enough!

10. Because someday, everything will find its way into falling into place for you…
