How to: Throw a Super Bowl Party

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at St Vincent chapter.

With Super Bowl Sunday right around the corner comes Super Bowl parties and the responsibility to throw such parties. Luckily, here at HC we get you .. and are here to help! Here’s a simple list to make sure your party is as lit as the football game!

Food is everything.

The food selection is everything when planning for your Super Bowl party. We’re talking not just pizza and wings.. but, veggie trays and dessert tables as well. Bonus points if you have football themed/shaped foods. But most importantly, be sure to know your audience so that everybody is accommodated. We don’t want anybody having any allergic reactions during the par-tay!

Good Company.

The right guest list is essential for having the ultimate party. Being inviting is important but be sure to try to make sure everybody knows at least one person so the party is fun for all in attendance. Remember there is only so much of you to go around and you want to make the most of that time making sure we’re all having a good time. You Included!

Great drinks.

Whether they be non-alcoholic or alcoholic (for those of age), be sure they are delicious crowd favorites! My recommendation is to always have at least one punch along with lots of hydrating water!

Upbeat Music.

If you are planning to have a pre-game party before the event takes place, be sure to create an awesome playlist so that the mood stays light and fun! Check out Spotify for loads of great pre-made playlists tailored for any event.

Festive Environment.

What’s a party without decorations! Check out your local supermarket and dollar stores to get the looks for less! Tip: try buying balloons that are the colors of your fav team to pin on the wall as well as buying table clothes, plates, etc.. that are festive as well in support of your team!

Spirit Gear.

Just as we like our environments festive, we like our gear spirited. Be sure to go out and get yourself some spirit gear as you cheer on your team to victory! Tip: Be sure to check out places like Walmart or Goodwill to score some spirit gear for less.

Rate the Commercials.

A fun way to keep the fun going is rating the commercials during the breaks as we wait for the game to come back. Some of the top favs include the Doritos ones or the ever so famous Clydesdale horses featured by Budweiser.

Last Minute Tip:: With partying comes responsibility.. if you find that costs are beginning to rack up, there’s nothing wrong with throwing a small party and divvying up the costs amongst friends! Once you do that, you’ll only be chipping in a fraction of the cost. Now, that’s what I call a steal!

Have fun Bearcats!!

St Vincent '18

Hello there! I am the Campus Correspondent of the Her Campus chapter at Saint Vincent College. As a senior psychology major, I've made the most of my time in undergrad and am excited for all the doors I have opening ahead of me. I can definitely thank Her Campus for giving me invaluable skills. As a future psychologist, I hope that my articles (and the chapter's) are able to make you feel empowered, motivate you to start a conversation, and be kind. As a hero of mine has said, "If you do not take control over your time and your life, other people will gobble it up. If you don't prioritize yourself, you constantly start falling lower and lower on your list."- Michelle Obama. Be the change you want to see in the world, and smile. Always smile!
