Valentine’s Day puts so much pressure on everyone, couples and singles alike. We can easily point the finger to blame movies. In every movie there is always a “perfect” Valentine’s Day. There are roses, chocolates, the perfect date, and the perfect boyfriend. The whole nine.  When in reality, life is not that perfect. You should not expect perfection because then you more than likely will be let down. Instead of focusing your energy on being without a significant other this Valentine’s Day, focus your energy on yourself. It is not hard to as Justin Bieber would say, “love yourself” especially on a day dedicated to love. Here are 7 ways to spend Valentine’s Day loving you.

1. Morning workout

Wake up early, watch the sunrise, drink coffee, and go workout. Keeping up with your physical fitness is the perfect way to show your love for yourself. If you spend your time sleeping in, chances are you will wake up groggy and upset that you did not wake up to a significant other. So start your morning early and with a purpose.

2. Manicure and pedicure

After you workout and get ready for the day (in red or pink, of course) you decide that you need to find the nearest nail salon for a little pampering. Paint your nails and toes your favorite color and fully take advantage of taking care of yourself.

3. Flowers

Flowers are a must on Valentine’s Day and no; they do not have to be from a significant other. Sometimes it is nice to have flowers in your dorm just to brighten up the room. So, find the prettiest bouquet of red roses and buy them for yourself without any shame.

4. Go shopping

Retail therapy is always the answer. Stores will have Valentine’s Day sales so why not take advantage of them? Your closet will thank you.

5. Red Box

Don’t forget to stop at Red Box and pick up whatever movie you enjoy. Whether its romantic, comedy, or horror- you can’t go wrong.

6. Order Chinese takeout

There is something about Chinese takeout that can fill any void that you may be having. And don’t feel guilty about getting lo mein because the “lo” in lo mein puts the l-o in love.

7. Wine

When all else fails: wine. Wine seems to comfort you in the most special way. Grab your favorite bottle and relax while watching your Red Box.
