Taylor’s Tunes: Kids are art, too

Hey everyone! This weekend, parents of Olaf students traveled to the Hill to visit their children, check out the campus, have a nice meal at Chapati and watch a football game for the tradition known as homecoming. With them, they brought other members of the family, many of which were children of young age. With the flock of babies running around, I was inspired to go a different direction with my post for this week. Instead of discussing certain musicians and their bodies of work, I decided to focus on a different body of work that some of my favorite artists create: their kids. See what I just did there?

Like the rest of us, musicians procreate (usually with other famous people). And more often than not, their kids are adorable. So I present to you some of my favorite offspring of the musical world along with some favorite songs by the parents themselves.

Kingston and Zuma Rossdale

When she’s not running around with Harajuku girls, Gwen Stefani (front-woman of No Doubt) is busy being mother to sons Kingston and Zuma. The pair also have a musician for a father: Gavin Rossdale, the frontman of Bush. More importantly though, these two are cute and bound to be pretty cool when they grow up. With a mother like Stefani, how could they not be? And if you are unfamiliar with this song, just stop reading.

D’Lila and Jessie Combs

In 2006, Diddy welcomed not one, but two daughters into the world. 15 years from now D’Lila and Jessie (whose middle name is James, shout out to Northfield) will probably be twin forces, but for now are happy to be hanging out with their dad and rocking some bossy visors. You go girls.

Sean Preston

For the past five years or so, Britney Spears’ personal life has been anything but. Every misstep, mistake and trip to the barber shop is documented and broadcast for the world to see. But you have to give her credit for rising above and standing by her two sons. Personally I think Sean Preston is cuter so he gets the props here (Jayden’s got a weird face, I blame Kevin Federline). Even though Spears may never win Mother of the Year (which baby did she have on her lap in the car?) she does have an adorable kid.
