L.A. is full of celebrities, drama, challenges and of course, inspirations. Many famous American street fashion symbols were established there, for example, American Apparel, Wildfox and Kitson. Different from New Yorker’s appearance, which focuses on the intensity and details of sophisticated designs, L.A. street style is much simpler and more casual. This is why I want to share some inspirations I got from watching L.A street shoots. We are college students who do not have enough money and time to dress so finished all the time, we want something that is quick and nice. If we have a little bit extra time, we can make it more stylish, if not, then we will still look good (no mistakes!).

The biggest inspiration I got comes into one question: how to wear Neutrals.
Neutral colors: nude, white, black and grey, you just won’t ever go wrong. Playing a little bit game on the design (e.g. herms pants and pleated skirts) and the material (e.g. silk, knit, spandex and cotton), and here comes the easiest way to create a stylish look.

Look at the pictures of celebrities in Wildfox. Wearing neutrals avoids the “Christmas tree” look, and it gives people this idea that you just threw on some random clothes, and they look perfect. Don’t hesitate to wear neutrals to a party. Add a bright color piece, catchy accessories or funky make-up and you will rock it.

As I mentioned several times in my pervious posts (Would you wear a pleated skirt?) http://www.hercampus.com/school/stolaf/sto-style-would-you-wear-pleated-skirt), I LOVE LOVE LOVE American Apparel. Their pieces always come in neutrals that are so easy to match in order to create a casual stylish look. Besides the basics, they also have “not-so-basic” pieces that contain the most fashionable elements like lace, crop-tops, and see-thru guru. The quality is so good that you could even put them in the washing machine every day, and they would still look like new! Some of them are acid-washed or vintage-looked style, so it is even better when they look like washed for many times!

Playing mix-and-match games with pieces from American Apparel will make you get compliments of “you look so L.A.” all the time if you walk on the street in California. (I am not joking, I got this a lot when I was back in San Francisco!)

And here is a little preview for next week: I want choose some pieces from my favorite brands and use them as examples to share my ideas about the easiest ways to create five quick and stylish looks to conquer the busy week in the best style possible.
