Sto-Style: Fancy Feet

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at St Olaf chapter.

When it comes to shoes, my mantra is ‘the crazier, the better.’ That’s why I love all the studded, metallic, glittery and flashy sneakers popping up everywhere. They’re the perfect blend of fashionable and comfortable.

I love how versatile these shoes are – they’re sneakers, so you can casually wear them every day, but the fun embellishments make them flashy enough for going out dancing with your girlfriends! If you’re at a loss for what to wear with these pumped up kicks, opt for a neutral outfit and let the shoes take center stage. I love the idea of wearing all black and #7 (my favorite flashy pair).

Want to try this trend but aren’t too keen on shelling out a lot of money? Get crafty and DIY! There are a ton of tutorials for embellishing a pair of sneakers, but these four are my favorite:

2. http://psimadethis.com/

3. http://honestlywtf.com/diy/diy-miu-miu-sneakers-vans-giveaway/

I followed the tutorials for #3 and #4 to transform my old pair of ratty Converse. I found the silver glitter, studs, E6000 glue, and Mod Podge I used for this project at Michaels. If you’re planning on glittering your entire shoe, make sure to paint thin layers of glitter and Mod Podge. I did thicker layers and ended up with really stiff shoes. Regardless, I love how they turned out!

So what do you think of this trend? Would you try it, or is it too flashy for you?

Put on your fancy shoes and stay fashionable St. Olaf!
