It’s almost that time of year again, or rather, day of the year again – where I absolutely allow myself to fall in love – with February, the month of love!
Catch me in the days preceding Valentine’s Day and I’ll bet you a Hershey Kiss that I’ll be sitting on my carpet, pink and red paper, heart stickers and sparkly paint, plus a box or two of cupcake mix, frosting, and sprinkles, all in a mess by my feet. On top of my desk, I’m sure you’ll spot an array of various heart-shaped candies; check out my closet and you may or may not find my Valentine’s Day socks. (If you’re looking for the right colors, you can’t miss them.) But before card-making, dorm-room decorating, cupcake-baking and most of all, candy eating, what I love most about Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity it offers every year: for one whole night, uninterrupted, of my favorite chick-flick, romantic-comedies.
Now if you don’t celebrate this holiday – yes, I believe it IS a holiday – or if you prefer drama, horror, or action to my afore-mentioned favorite form of film, I doubt you’ll want to read on. If however, you similarly celebrate this day but this year, have a boyfriend or a date for the night, I say no shame!
After your nice romantic evening out, ask your pals to make room for him on the couch because he’s staying – at least for the first movie!
Originally, I intended to list for you my top 10 favorite romantic comedies. Clearly, that task proved too much to ask for a romantic such as myself. Instead please enjoy the following, rather excessive list, thus true to the spirit of this heartfelt holiday.
