Ole Entertainment: A Word About KSTO

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at St Olaf chapter.

Hey Oles!

In the latest issue of the Manitou Messenger, a brief article was published about the KSTO spring schedule that I thought I would follow up on. For those of you who are unfamiliar with KSTO and have no idea what I am talking about right now, it is one of St. Olaf’s best (I may be biased here) student organizations – the college radio station.

KSTO has been a part of St. Olaf since it first hit the airwaves in 1957 and has been housed in the lower level of Buntrock Commons for the past 15 years. There are hardly any rules to being a DJ, as long as the FCC guidelines pertaining to censorship are adhered to. Students have complete freedom to play whatever music they want or discuss any topic that they can think of, from politics to what was on the menu that day.

KSTO doesn’t just provide a platform for students and faculty alike to share their opinions and musical taste with the community – the organization also brings various artists to campus for concerts. Just this year, KSTO has hosted shows by S. Carey of Bon Iver and Hippo Campus, an up-and-coming indie band from the Twin Cities.

No matter what your taste is, there is a show just waiting for you to tune in. Support your friends and fellow Oles by checking out what time their shows are at here and start listening!
