These past two weeks have been incredibly crazy. School has been winding down with finals week and the work load has picked up tremendously. It has been hard to get with this work load after a fairly relaxed semester, compared to the semesters at St. Olaf. AUC is quite different in that homework/papers etc. are really only seen at the end of the semester. There aren’t as many mid-semester assignments as at St. Olaf. Its crazy to see how the schools differ so – even though they are American schools. AUC is an accredited American University, but the style has definitely been influenced by the European system, which focuses on the final exam performance.Â

But with all of the work, I have still taken some time to enjoy myself in Cairo. I have been spending a lot of time with some friends that I have made outside of AUC. They are from the British Counsel, and some are Egyptian friends. It has been great to spend time with them because it is also an outlet from talking and being with the school.Â

Besides the school work, I have also been getting ready to come home. I have been getting most of my relatives gifts from Egypt for Christmas and I have been doing a lot of packing and cleaning because I will be leaving quite soon – on the 23! It has been an amazing semester but there is so much to do now. I can’t wait to see my family and I can’t wait to be done with school. (I’ve also been to a couple parties recently. For example, one which was a birthday party for my Khaled. It was a lot of fun and it was a great break for me!)

Until next week, Ma’asalama!Â
