Fall break is just around the corner and I hope you can all take some time to unwind and enjoy the crisp weather. My ideal break would be spent watching movies. I love movies so much that I even have ones that I like watching during certain seasons, so it only seemed fitting that I share some of my fall ones with you before break, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!Â
Silver Linings PlaybookÂ
I feel like fall is a time to start fresh, and this movie is definitely an example of that. Maybe this semester you are feeling a little lost, unsure of where the heck you’re headed. This movie makes you feel Pat’s strong motivation to understand himself and become a better person. Follow his motto of “excelsior” to take all your negativty and use it to find a silver lining, because that’s sometimes just what we need (also, who doesn’t love Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence?).
Â
Juno
This movie just feels like fall. I think it’s the combination of the indie/folk music played throughout the movie and the fact that it takes place in Minnesota. And who doesn’t love Minnesota in the fall? But I also enjoy Juno, the main character. I love how she doesn’t care what anyone else thinks and is so sure of herself. Because as a character in the movie puts it: “this is one doodle that can’t be undid, home-skillet.” This movie is a really good example of how to make the best of the situations you’re given.Â

Â
The Breakfast Club
Such a 1980’s classic. Dealing with deep issues about fitting in and being yourself, but also learning to let go. And sometimes you just need to tell life to “eat. my. shorts.” (also, I really encourage those of you staying on campus to  relieve your stress by going to the library and dancing like no one’s watching).
Â
You’ve Got MailÂ
Living in New York City, running a bookstore, going to coffee shops and cozying up inside to write funny, deep, and heartfelt mail to each other sounds like a good way to spend fall to me.Â
Â
National Treasure
In case you plan on stealing the Declaration of Independence and running tests on the back of it in search of a treasure map anytime soon. Or if you just want to see Nicholas Cage geek out about American History. Either way, it’s quite educational and quite entertaining. Â
Â
It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!Â
I’m sorry, I had to. I’m a huge Peanuts fan and I watch it every year. The “Linus and Lucy” song, animated leaves swirling everywhere, pumpkin carving, ghost costumes, trick or treating, and of course, waiting all night for the Great Pumpkin to appear. If this movie doesn’t scream fall, I don’t know what does.Â
Â
So curl up with a blanket, a cup of cider and a good movie for a nice cozy fall afternoon.Â
