Partying is great sometimes, but what does a girl do when she doesn’t want her evening to be another sweaty night at the Slegion? For the creative individual, there are a variety of options (although sometimes the St. Olaf campus can be limited). Don’t let their tame nature make you shy away.

1) Ghost stories: No joke! These can be seriously scary late at night. Just turn off all the lights and start going around in a circle. To get started you can watch a scary movie. Also, if you can’t think of your own read some online beforehand. Just make sure the event is a sleepover!

 2) Indoors or outdoors camping: Camping equipment is available in Tostrud for rental. Rent some equipment and have a night of ‘smores and campfires. Ghost stories can be utilized for this event as well.

3) Disney (or whatever) marathon: If you are a ’90s baby – which, if you are going to St. Olaf now you probably are – you’re down for Disney movies whenever, wherever. This can be accompanied by loud singing to Disney ballads. If not Disney you could do a “Friends” or “Fresh Prince of Bel Air” marathon.

4) Costume party: Create your own costume and keep it a secret from your friends. Show up and see if they can guess what it is. Make sure to take photos! Options could include: Wedding party (take pictures in front of Boe for good measure), party referencing a class you are taking (Great Con character party?), professor/faculty/notable people on campus party or a black light party (Tron, Nicki Minaj in Super bass?).

5) Aerobic fitness video party: Buy an exercise video that looks hilarious and do your moves to that. It’s a great workout and you’re sure to get a kick out of watching your friends struggle with the moves. Bonus points if the video is from the 80s.

6) Mocktails/Cocktails party: Don’t forget Hors d’oeuvres! Take the opportunity to do some easy cooking and make something fun that can then be enjoyed by everyone. You can make fake jello shots, margaritas and pina coladas along with your favorite snacks.

7) Video game party: This should be self-explanatory, but crack out your favorite video games and have a marathon!
