Celebrate Makeup: Water, water and water

Hey folks, I believe many of you had an awesome J-term! Some of you may have studied abroad, and some may have just stayed on campus. Either way, welcome back to the Hill!

Sometimes, we question how to give more hydration to our skin after a long day on the flight, or how to prevent our skin from drying out after walking so long in the cold. Certain beauty products may hold the key to this puzzling predicament. 

 

Evain Mineral water spay is a must-have to cool down and hydrate your skin. It has a traveling size that works perfectly when you are on the flight. You can find it at Sephora:

It is crucial to use toner before applying moisturizer. Using a cotton pad to apply will save lots of the product and cleanse deep into your skin. You can actually see the “dirt” on the pad after applying! It will also hydrate your skin and help absorb moisture or cream. Some of the toners can even minimize your pores. Just one reminder, read the description of each product carefully and select the one that fits both your skin type and purpose! But remember, it is just a tonner – it can’t fix any kind of skin problem you have. 

 

Masks are very helpful for skin emergencies.

They are functional and within an affordable price range. My favorite is “Drink Up Intensive.” There is no need to wait after application, all you need to do is apply the mask and settle in for a night of beauty sleep. The next morning, your skin should feel completely rehydrated! And even better, it smells like yogurt! 
 

You can’t rely solely on masks, however, since they are designed to use twice a week at the most. Some masks are not for overnight usage and if you leave them on your face for too long, they will actually absorb hydration from your face and dry out your skin!

 

So let’s rely on our basic daily process to beat the blistering Minnesotan winter: cleanser-toner-moisture, and add some bonus like masks to it. More importantly, drink more water! It is the cheapest and the naturalist resource that works the best.
