For such a small school, St. Lawrence has a lot of siblings who are undergraduates at the same time and get to share the experience with each other. Here are a few opinions of the younger siblings and how they feel about having their older siblings at school, and vice versa.

Tyler Schmalz 20’ and Kayla Schmalz 18’

Tyler: “So far, being able to have an older sister on campus has been fun, exciting, but not new. I’ve grown up having an older sibling all my years of schooling, but to have a sister at college, for sure, is a huge advantage both socially and academically. This has allowed me to succeed and continually contribute as much as possible during my time at SLU so far”

Kayla: “It’s SO comforting having a little bit of family up here in the NOCO. Ty came to SLU this fall, when I was abroad, and although I was upset I couldn’t experience his first ticker or first few months of school with him, I think that was the perfect amount of space/time for him to make his friends, make his mark, and find out what SLU was all about for himself. When I came back this spring, I was beyond excited to start off this semester and introduce him to everything I loved and knew about SLU. We were able to combine our friend groups, which gave us both a whole new crowd of people to interact with/befriend! “

Abigail Smith 19’ and Tori Smith 17’

Abi: “Having a sister at St. Lawrence is more than I could ask for. No matter what happens, I know I will always have someone who is by my side. Although we live in the same off campus house and are in the same sorority, there are so many other things that we are both a part of, so we don’t see each other all the time.”

Tori: “Having my younger sister on campus has been the best thing I could ask for.  Our relationship has only grown since being at school together. I love having her around!”

Isabelle Rosa 19’ and Andrew Rosa 17’

Andrew: “At first I was worried about having my younger sister on campus, but it has made us much closer. It’s always great seeing her and her friends around campus and hanging out with them. I never eat alone in the pub.”

Isabelle: “Having an older brother at SLU is like having a little piece of home at school. I’m so happy I didn’t let him being at SLU alter my decision to come here. Seeing him and all of his friends around campus brightens my day. I don’t know what I’m going to do when he graduates!”
