Member Monday: Charlotte Barry ‘21 and Katie Leffel ‘21

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at St. Law U chapter.

What better way to introduce our new weekly Member Monday articles than with our very own rising Campus Correspondents? Both Charlotte and Katie have been dedicated to Her Campus for the entirety of their first semesters at St. Lawrence, and their commitment and leadership has landed them the position to take over the Chapter this fall. Read on to learn more about Charlotte and Katie, two fabulous members of our HC chapter!

Charlotte Barry ‘21

Hometown: Marblehead, Massachusetts

Major: Currently undecided, but I am leaning towards becoming an English Major with a Minor in Art History.

Q: What is your favorite place on campus?

A: My favorite places on campus include the Student Center, the basement of ODY, the Athletic Center, and Herring-Cole Reading Room.

Q: What is your favorite part of being a SLU student?

A: My favorite part of being a SLU student is being involved in such a large community of current students and graduates that all share the same love and adoration for St. Lawrence. I am also very appreciative of all of the opportunities that SLU offers its students, and how it allows each individual to design their own academic path with an emphasis on the importance of trying and learning new things. I also love the people that I have encountered on campus this year, and I believe that every faculty member and student here exudes friendliness, happiness, and positivity.

Q: What positively surprised you about SLU?

A: Even though I knew SLU was relatively small, I didn’t expect to meet so many people so fast and form connections with a large chunk of the community as a First Year. I absolutely adore attending a small institution where “everybody knows your name” because it ignites a close-knit and extraordinary bond amongst the community.

Q: What are you most excited about taking over the Her Campus Chapter at St. Lawrence this Fall 2018?

A: Where to even begin?!? I am so thrilled to have the amazing honor of running HC next fall. I am really looking forward to talking to the representatives who actually run Her Campus and getting more involved in the marketing side of the group. I am also super excited to recruit new members who are enthusiastic about HC and hear what they have to bring to the table.

Fun fact: I am also President of our Spoon University Chapter here at SLU, and I have an older brother who attends SLU as well!

Katie Leffel ‘21

Hometown: Wilton, Connecticut

Major: Double Major in Economics and Business in the Liberal Arts

Q: What is your favorite place on campus?

A: Student Center, Herring-Cole Reading Room, and the Saddlemire Trail

Q: What is your favorite part of being a SLU student?

A: My favorite part of being a SLU student is having the opportunity to do many different things, try new things, and explore.

Q: What positively surprised you about SLU?

A: I was pleasantly surprised to how close-knit SLU students are. I love how SLU students come together for sporting events and campus events like Raft Day and Titus Weekend. Overall, I really enjoy how welcoming the St. Lawrence community is.

Q: What are you most excited about taking over the Her Campus Chapter at St. Lawrence this Fall 2018?

A: Learning more about HC and how it operates, getting connected with other chapters of HC, helping incoming students to get involved on campus, and posing new ideas to the chapter!

Fun fact: I have climbed Mt. Washington!
