How to Stay in Touch With Your Friends over the Summer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at St. Law U chapter.

As the school year comes to a close, many things may cross your mind, including all of the stressful finals you have to take, the painful reality of packing up your room, living with your parents again, but most importantly, how you’ll survive without your friends. Three months can be a long time being away from the place you call home and the people you call family, however, there are little things you can do to make it bearable.

  1. We’ve all been in that group chat that gives you a million notifications a day, and as annoying as it can be, it can also be a nice reminder to you and your friends of what your conversations are like. If you ever have a memory or a situation that makes you think of them, send it in your group chat and read the responses!

  2. Keeping photos around your bedroom at home can be a great way to help you remember all the fun times you had with your friends this past semester. Even changing your phone’s home screen background will help you think back to all the fun times you had together.

  3. In the 21st century, we are fortunate to have applications like Facetime or Skype where you can talk face to face with the click of a button! There are even apps like Houseparty which allows you to video chat with multiple friends at once. Although they can get chaotic at times, nothing equates to the authenticity of these conversations!

  4. Visiting your friends at home is a fun way to see what their life was like before you were in it! While being in their hometown, you’ll get the chance to meet their family and pre-college friends.

  5. Plan a trip together! Remember you are away from school! No more homework or tests to take or papers to write, so make sure you make the most of it. Plan a road trip or a trip to the beach, because as soon as you know, you’ll be back at school again!
