How to Give Back Over Winter Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at St. Law U chapter.

You’re home for winter break. Finals are done, the semester is finished, and there is no homework to be had. After the rush of preparing for the holidays and the joy and excitement of Christmas morning, there is a lull. Giving back to your local community is a great way to fill any extra time you have while you’re home! Think about how fortunate you are to have had such a wonderful holiday experience, and remember that the simplest of acts can brighten someone else’s world. Let’s make a difference this winter break!

  1. Volunteer at a local food pantry

  2. Help prepare or serve (or both!) at a local soup kitchen

  3. Volunteer at a local Goodwill or Salvation Army

  4. Visit with residents at a local Assisted Living Facility

  5. Donate any belongings you no longer want or need

  6. Volunteer at a facility for people with disabilities

  7. Offer to babysit or pet sit free of charge

  8. Run errands for an elderly person in your area

  9. Volunteer at a local blood drive

  10. Help out at a local school
