Staying relaxed during finals season is most definitely not easy. As someone who gets easily overwhelmed (yes, I proudly admit to that), I have gathered a few techniques over the years to help ease the mental intensity that comes with a heavy workload. I am going to share with you all a few of the activities I make sure to fit into my busy schedule in order to alleviate built-up tension.

Nightly Skincare Routine

Something about putting on a face mask at night calms all of my stressors. When I focus on my skincare routine and indulge in pampering myself, my mind instantly feels at ease. Right now, I am really into sheet masks, but I am also obsessed with any type of clay masks. After allowing these masks to seep into your skin, I love washing my face with my favorite cleanser, followed by an ultra-hydrating moisturizer. Nothing beats it!

Podcasts

Podcasts are one of the most relaxing things to listen to. Podcasts are ideal if you need a little distraction from your daily life and want to hear someone else rant about whatever topic you desire. Although Podcasts are not ideal if you need to buckle down and get work done, they are the perfect alleviation tool. Right now, I have been loving the H3 Podcast on YouTube. I also adore My Favorite Murderer, which is definitely not for the faint of heart. However, you are obviously not limited to my favorites, as there are limitless genres of Podcasts on every platform.

Go For a Drive!

Although it may sound so simple, listening to your favorite tunes while driving around your town is one of the most relaxing pastimes. For some reason, driving without a purpose is so calming and allows your mind to repose. This, accompanied by an awesome playlist, remains a cherished activity of mine. I know this probably seems silly, but don’t knock it until you try it!

All snacks on deck

I know stress snacking is usually not recommended, but I see no harm in supplying yourself with some tasty treats. In my opinion, chocolate is the most satisfying snack on the market. Right now, I am loving Little Secrets chocolate pieces and Lily’s chocolate. For some reason, chocolate provides me with enough serotonin to complete any assignment. Also, if you have extra time on your hands, I think baking and/or cooking is a fabulous distraction tool. To be fair, good food fuels a working brain, so I don’t necessarily feel bad about this. My favorite study snack to make is banana bread. I also find that homemade soup is extremely comforting during any stressful time. Don’t forget to treat yourself this finals season and eat what you love. You will be surprised how far it will take you!

These are just a few of the many relaxing activities that I try to implement in my schedule during finals week. This is a very stressful time, so be sure to take at least a moment for yourself, because the best work is done with a clear mind. Wishing you all the best of luck with your final assessments and congratulate you for completing another difficult semester!
