What’s better than brunch in the NoCo?! Absolutely nothing! If you’re looking for the best places to grab a bite with friends on a Sunday, you’ve come to the right place. Here you’ll find a list of the hotspots every St. Lawrence student MUST try before graduating.

Maxfield’s – Located right in the middle of Potsdam you’ll find Maxfield’s, a great restaurant with all-American food and a GREAT brunch menu. Stepping away from the diner scene and looking for more of a pub-food scene, the menu ranges from things like chicken wings to mozzarella and burrata, a wedge salad or flatbread pizza, if you’re looking for a nice meal, fast service, and good prices, get yourself to Maxfield’s.

Bagelry – In Canton and Potsdam! The Bagelry was established in 1982 in Potsdam, New York, and is actually the oldest coffee and bagel shop in St. Lawrence county! The Bagelry in downtown Canton is extremely close to campus, and has fast and reliable service. Along with their incredible coffee beverages, the Bagelry is known for its signature sandwich menu. There are so many choices, as well as different toppings and cream cheese spreads to try!

Jake’s On The Water – If you’re looking for a more formal, but still casual breakfast place, you should try Jake’s on the water. Jake’s is located in Hannawa Falls, New York, and even though it is a little bit of a drive from St. Lawrence’s campus, the food is definitely worth the car ride! The brunch menu has all the basics (such as waffles, pancakes, omelettes, and Eggs Benedict), but also includes holiday themed favorites such as Pumpkin Spiced Cream Cheese-Stuffed French Toast! Jake’s on the water is a great spot to take family or friends for a longer, enjoyable sit-down brunch!

Cascade Inn – Looking for a diner that is close enough to walk to but still has great brunch options outside of the dining hall? The Cascade Inn is a popular spot among students at SLU, and it has a classic cafe menu, including one of their most popular breakfast items, French toast!

Village Diner – This little hole-in-the-wall diner in Potsdam, New York, has a very classic and authentic aura and is a great place to stop for a quick bite to eat. Being away at school, there’s nothing better than getting off campus and feeling at home with some classic diner food. With a wide variety of options, the menu is appealing to everyone! The Flapjack Attack Challenge is one of their infamous games, with a 45 minute time limit to finish your pancakes.
