There are so many different circumstances that can lead you into a negative mindset and that can lead you to feel that your day is going poorly.  It is important to realize that there are different levels of “bad days”, but any bad day can be turned around with a positive outlook and a good support system.  With the chaos surrounding multiple facets of many people’s lives right now, I am here to offer some guidance in turning your day around.  Try these 5 methods and see what works well with your situation and mindset.

Listen To Music

I don’t know about you all, but I definitely have a hype up playlist.  It mostly consists of female pop and rap artists and it has definitely helped improve my mood.  Before big interviews, competitions, or stressful situations, I like to blast “That’s My Girl” by Fifth Harmony.  When I listen to this, I feel empowered and in control which is an important aspect of maintaining a good and positive mindset.  Work on finding your “Girl Boss” song and listen to it when you feel your mood or energy slipping.  If it helps, sing along or get up and dance!

Exercise!!!

I can tell you from an athlete’s perspective that this really does work.  There have been so many times where I am so frustrated with a day of classes and work and by the time I get to practice, I just want to not show up and go to bed.  However, every time I get my heart pumping and get a good sweat in, all of my tension is released.  It’s almost magical!  By engaging in some sort of physical activity, it can help you to take your mind off of the current negative situations or can help you to internally work through them and see a bigger picture.

Reflect on Why You Are Having a Bad Day & Look For The Good

It can be very overwhelming when things feel as though they are crumbling around you.  When you start feeling down, try looking for a silver lining in the situation.  Although it may be very small, try to make it feel bigger.  Once you have found it, write down three things you are grateful for and draw on those to boost your positivity.

Make a List & Complete It

This is a great way to feel accomplished.  Make a shortlist consisting of 3-4 items that you know you can complete.  Take pride in crossing off tasks and checking boxes.  This will make you feel a sense of accomplishment and empowerment and will lead you to have a more positive day.

Do Something For YOU

This one is important! Do something that is going to make YOU happy!  Don’t do what your family needs to be happy or your friends, do something for yourself.  This can be going to the local kennel and playing with doggies, or taking a nap, or playing spike ball with some friends.  Whatever it is, make sure it is something that brings you joy!
