Mark your calendars and grab your masks (and your snowboots)! Here are some cute activities to do this year on Valentine’s Day right here in (or near) Canton, NY!

1. Nature Storehouse: Chocolate Taste Testing.

What better way to spend an afternoon with a lover than with chocolate? This chocolate isn’t the Walgreens heart-shaped candy packaged from 2003, but the real stuff: dark chocolate with raspberry filling, milk chocolate covered pretzels, almonds, and cherries. All the chocolate you could ever wish for– made with delicious ingredients, too. There is also free shipping and curbside pick up for extra-chocolatey convenience.

2. Park Bro’s Coffee: Hot Drinks and More.

Order online with that special someone this Sunday anywhere from 8 am – 7 pm. The Bagelry is the perfect date environment, equipped with its legendary breakfast sandwiches, including the ‘Hipster’ and the ‘Lumberjack,’ quirky combinations of maple syrup and eggs all-in-one. To cater to the theme of Valentine’s day, I suggest all things pink. For a refreshing drink – despite the winter breeze – opt for the strawberry smoothie, or warm the soul with a red velvet latte. Better yet, grab a strawberry cream cheese bagel to embrace the holiday spirit.

3. The Snow Bowl: Skiing and Snowshoeing

South Colton, NY 13687, Route 56

In South Colton’s depths (still in St. Lawrence county) lies a stunning oasis known as the Snow Bowl. Discovered in the 1930s by the SLU ski team, the Snow Bowl became the new location for the Winter Carnival. Although the SLU ski team no longer owns the land, students still spend weekends skiing down slopes with friends or snowshoeing around the area. This location is ideal for a quick winter getaway on Valentine’s day. Strap on your skis and enjoy the outdoors with a hot date!

4. Take-Out Thai Food (Riverwalk Included)

Picture this: a romantic walk around Potsdam’s beautiful Raquette River, sharing a steaming container of chicken pad thai. Lovely imagery. Thai takeout is the perfect balance of casual yet delicious. With a 4.5 star rating on TripAdvisor, this date is a must. Spicy yellow curry is just the thing to heat things up, and you can even order it all online with ease!

5. Cranberry Lake: Outdoor Winter Fun

NY 12927

Prepare some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches the night before going to spend a full day at Cranberry Lake! With a drive of just under an hour, this gorgeous lake allows for a day of adventure. Kick off the morning with a 3.7-mile hike around Big Bear Trail, then bundle up for an afternoon picnic by the stunning lake. You and your date will not regret getting off campus for a beautiful Valentine’s day surrounded by nature!
