Top Skincare Products for the Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at St. John's chapter.

Fall is here, and that means it’s time to adjust our skincare routines again! With the arrival of fall also comes chillier air and lower levels of humidity, meaning the products to use this season are going to be based around moisture and hydration. Here some of the fall essentials I use to retain my moisture barrier and keep my skin looking healthy:

1. Then I Met You’s “Living Cleansing Balm”

 You can purchase it here

Although it’s a bit on the pricey end in terms of cleansers, especially compared to all-time favorites like the CeraVe facial cleansers (an essential if you’re just beginning to get into skincare), this cleansing balm is a must-have! This product is a great first step, especially if you use the double-cleansing method. It melts away oil-based impurities while leaving your skin soft and hydrated. It uses a variety of oils, like olive oil and seaberry oil that also have anti-aging and brightening properties.

2. Peach & Lily’s “Glass Refining Serum”

You can purchase it here

For most of us, our skin is dull and exhausted in the fall, especially with midterms just passing. This serum, which you’d apply after cleansing and drying your face, not only makes your skin look poreless, but also keeps it look bright and glowy! The hyaluronic acid helps to hydrate your skin simultaneously, and the East Asian mountain yam extract leaves your skin looking smooth.

3. Rovectin’s “Barrier Repair Face & Body Cream”

You can purchase it here

This is an ultra-hydrating antioxidant cream that’s perfect to nourish the skin after a day of facing the cool air Fall comes with! The ceramides and panthenol help strengthen and restore your skin’s natural moisture barrier. The peach kernel oil even helps rejuvenate wrinkles. This is an amazing moisturizer to help keep your skin hydrated for the fall.

4. Purito’s “Centella Green Level Unscented Sun”

You can purchase it here

Even though it’s fall, you still have to use sunscreen! The sun is still out, and sunscreen is an essential product that needs to be included in your daily skincare routine. This sunscreen is a favorite because while it protects the skin from UV rays, it’s also paraben-free. The star ingredient is Centella Asiatica, which is known for its wound-healing abilities. As a person of color, this sunscreen is essential because it doesn’t leave behind a white cast on my skin. It leaves the skin looking fresh and glowy!

5. Primera’s “Clean Berry Lip Mask”

You can purchase it here

This vegan, leave-on lip mask is perfect to use overnight to soften your lips. It contains murumuru butter which protects the lip’s barrier, and seaberry which provides deep moisture. It can be used any time of day, but because it’s a thicker texture, make sure to use it in varying amounts. It also has a nice fragrance of berries that do not linger for too long.

6. Versed’s “Keep it Supple Body Oil”

You can purchase it here

An alternative to heavier lotions for the fall is body oil! They don’t leave a thick, sticky residue the same way lotions do, and they absorb right into your skin. It includes a mixture of oils to retain moisture in your skin, as well as Vitamin E. The beautiful fragrance comes from ylang-ylang oil. For the fall, it’s perfect to put on before lotion or alone.

These products will help your skin withstand the harsh winds and the cold of fall, and keep your skin healthy, hydrated, and nourished throughout the season!
