I don’t know about anyone else, but I cannot focus driving without music on. The other day, I was driving my sister home and she turned off the music because she said I needed to focus. At that point, she might as well have taken the wheel because truly that does not help. I need the perfect vibe while I’m driving, something that gets me singing calmly while I tackle the craziness that exists on these Maryland roads. Although I only drive near my house, I can still get anxious which is why music is important to me and making sure there’s good music on. Throughout the past month and having more time to myself, I have had more opportunities to drive and here are my top five favorite songs to put on for a ride.
5. Supernatural by Ariana Grande – Something about this song just feels heavenly to me. Not that I should try to enter heaven when I drive, but singing this song feels out of this world and so enjoyable. When I listen to this song, I feel like I’m in the room with Ari, watching her float into the sky at her Eternal Sunshine Tour. That feeling is something that cannot be replicated and is why it’s always the first thing I play when I play my Ariana playlist (which is on repeat in the car).
4. Just Like Magic by Ariana Grande – For similar reasons, being that Ariana is a staple in my car, this song is always on repeat. This is just an overall fun song to listen to and such a vibe, a vibe that I want when I’m behind the wheel. I don’t know why, but this song just gives me a boost of confidence, which is oh so helpful behind the wheel. Positions is one of my favorite albums by Ariana, and this song is such an easy song to sing along to, which makes it the perfect song to stay in my driving rotation.
3. What A Girl Wants by McKayla Twiggs – Confidence boosts are big when I drive. I need to convince myself that when I drive, I am driving well and everything will be okay so I don’t panic behind the wheel. And this song does that. Not specifically for driving, but it still applies. When I put this song on, and honestly the whole EP on, I feel like I’m that girl. Something about McKayla Twiggs’ aura genuinely just hits different and makes the whole vibe completely change which is so fun on the road. Although, I have to admit, this song gives me the urge to speed so although it is one of my favorites to drive to, I’m not sure that’s a good thing.
2. PQC by Daine – I love good vibes in my car. I just love peace and a good jam and honest to God, that’s what this song is. It has a different kind of intro but when the chorus hits, it just feels like you’re running through a grass field blowing bubbles on a sunny day. I don’t know how else to describe it other than sunshine and rainbows. I honestly don’t even know the lyrics for the most part but off vibes alone, this song is always getting queued up after my #1 song.
- Ain’t In LA by Adela – This song makes it feel like everything is going to be alright. When driving around my hometown, I’m often reminded of what life was like living here full time and the memories at different places. Leaving home for college was such a big adjustment, but one that was definitely needed because moving to New York City changed my life and changed me. This song feels like you’ve made it out, which is what makes it so special to me. When I play this song while driving around my hometown, it feels victorious almost. Not only that, but it has such strong throwback summer vibes that honestly give it so much aura. I have genuinely gone out just to drive around the block so I can listen to this while behind the wheel. This song feels like life is constantly wearing sunglasses, Rio De Janeiro filter on repeat while getting a Unicorn Frappicino from Starbucks. The vibes are just there in a way I cannot explain otherwise. This song came out at the perfect time for me and honestly is so perfect to listen to that it’s not just on repeat in the car, but anytime I listen to music now.
So you see my top 5 tracks that I play in my car and why, and how fun it is to listen to them all. If you’re ever on the road, be sure to give them a listen! I’m positive you’ll enjoy at least one of these songs.
