Black Designers to Check Out this Month

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at St. John's chapter.

It’s no surprise that everyone likes to look good. Designers get inspiration and create outfits that are out of this world! They even make it to the red carpet or become notorious in their own way. Like I always say… let the dress speak for itself!

Anifa Mvuemba

She started out as just a seamstress for customs and alterations and then began her own company, Hanifa! She holds up to her morals and believes in her work to glorify women in their natural state. Her pieces are of high quality and reasonable and she’s working on expanding her empire.

Stella Jean

Stella Jean’s fashion shouts Fun Creole attire! Sometimes it’s so out of the ordinary and sometimes she has fun and puts a twist in her designs. A typical daytime dress pops with color and rocks the runaway!

 Jasmine Brown

Known as a model, YouTube star, and beauty influencer with more than 2.4 million subscribers she stands for all women who are beautiful, confident, and influential! She released a clothing line with Love Culture back in 2017 and now has her collaboration with Eylure London with her very own eyelash line. There’s nothing better than a woman who can do it all while batting those beautiful, long, and voluminous lashes.

Kennedy Cymone

She is a beauty influencer and YouTuber with about 1.79 million subscribers who stands for all things independent, baddie, savage, and stylish. She is the owner of kckcollection which is none other than her beauty line. On top of that, she is part of Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty line as an ambassador.

Serena Williams

Not only is she a famous 23rd-time Grand Slam tennis player champion and mother, she is also a major fashion designer who launched her clothes at serenawilliams.com. She stands for all women who can not help but follow and achieve their dreams! You go girl!
