15 Reasons You Should Be Proud to Be a Woman

By Ilannie Fernandez

1. We can have babies

Each 7.5 billion of us came from a woman. Our mother’s sheltered us in their wombs for 9 months, rent free, and boy do they remind us! The ability to be able to birth a person is pretty amazing. I mean, who doesn’t love babies? Plus, no need for a DNA test!

2. Women work (at least) twice as hard as men

Whether it’s in the workplace, earning less than men… Or getting ready for an event, spending at least double the time to get ready, our effort is just incomparable.

3. Yeah, We Have Periods

Yes, we bleed once a month for a week straight and don’t die. What other living thing do you know of other than female mammals that can do that?

4. We live longer

On Average, a woman’s life expectancy is up to 79years old , while a man’s is 72 years old.

5.   We’re smart

Women are 21% more likely than males to have graduated college. Cash with that degree how bout dat?!

6.   Penises are weird looking

Besides the fact that women can have multiple orgasms, walking around with something hanging down our pants would be pretty weird.

7.   We know when to ask for directions

And help… Especially away at school, how many times have you called your mom this week? It takes a stronger person to admit when they are at fault than to admit no fault at all.

8.   Our wardrobe’s win

And our fashion sense. And our best friend’s closet. Women have always taken fashion by storm and have contributed greatly to the fashion industry. A few of my faves include: Jeanne Lanvin, Carolina Herrera, Tory Burch, and the fab Coco Chanel,.

9.   We come in different shapes and sizes

Flavas! We all come in different shapes, sizes and shades and we are all beautiful.

10. PMS is the best excuse

No,  I don’t want to go out tonight. I will sit here and eat this tub of ice cream by myself.

11. We’ve come so far

Women make sure their voices are heard. We fought for our rights to vote and have not stayed silenced when we were told to be. From Susan B. Anthony to Amelia Earhart, to Rosa Parks, we have been resilient and brave and continue to do so.

12.  We’re great at multitasking

Studies show that we are great at switching between tasks and prioritizing them.

13. There’s never been a better time to be a woman

We just had a woman run for president and although she didn’t win, our  voices will still be heard. Women are coming together now more than ever to fight for our rights and to fight for equality.

14.  Our girlfriends are our sisters

Having amazing friends is so empowering. Nothing can compare to the joy of friendship and sharing our lives with amazing women that inspire us.

15. Beyoncé is woman

Therefore, we win. End of story.

If it doesn’t go without say…being a woman is pretty kick-ass. Although we still face biological discrimination in society, women in today’s world are more empowered than ever. The modern day woman should be everyone’s hero. I mean, anything you can do, we can do, bleeding!
