Spring break is almost here, and if you haven’t had your annual freak out about swimsuit shopping yet, it’s coming.  Every girl knows the struggle of searching for the perfect beachwear—battling cup sizes, butt sizes, weird potential tan lines and, of course, those awful dressing room mirrors.  The fact of the matter is we are not all Victoria’s Secret models, and there’s nothing wrong with that.  We have a few tips to help make your swimsuit shopping experience a stress-free one!

1. Doll yourself up.

We all know how terrible the lighting and space can be in a dressing room, so sometimes it helps to be feelin’ yourself a little extra. Do your hair, wear your favorite eye shadow, give yourself a little boost before even stepping into the store.

2. Be prepared.

Don’t try to slip on a couple of swimsuits after a big meal or when you’re exhausted.  Feeling extra bloated or extra tired won’t give you the positivity you need to try on bikini after bikini after bikini. Eat a healthy lunch, go for a jog, do whatever you need to do to feel great (you can totally treat yourself after).

3. Bring the extras.

Although a swimsuit is great alone, chances are you’ll cover up at some point. Bring along your favorite denim shorts, flowy sundress, or sweet shades to get an idea of what the suit will look like in real life.

4. The problem is the swimsuit, NOT YOU.

It’s so easy to drag yourself down when a certain suit doesn’t look perfect on you. Just remember that the clothes you are wearing are what need changing, not your gorgeous self.

5. Bring a friend.

Having a gal pal to reassure you of your hotness is essential to the swimwear selecting process. You need a friend who will tell it like it is, but will stick with you through the whole thing.

6. Try them on again at home.

Being able to dance around in front of your own mirror can change the way you feel about a swimsuit in a second. Take a few of your favorites home, blast some upbeat music, and take another look at the swimsuits you were second-guessing in the store—you can always return them!

7. Don’t get discouraged!

You’re a goddess with out without the swimsuit, so don’t let the bikini blues get you down.
