Welly Ball 2012: the dance floor was packed, the music was loud, and everyone was “booted up.”
Founded in 2008, Welly Ball is the culmination of the St Andrews Clay Pigeon Club inter-university tournament. It starts with a dinner and then even more people arrive for the afterparty. The ball is in support of Farm Africa.
It was held a Kinkell Byre, which is a difficult venue to get right. Lots of tight spaces mean that getting anywhere is a difficult prospect, and losing people is a common occurance. This year the only real disaster was the lack of hangers at the coat check. Most of the afterparty guests had to resort to piles of coats in a corner, or carrying it on to the dance floor.
Other than this minor detail, Welly Ball was a fun night for all. Dancing continued to the early hours of the morning, and noone’s feet hurt. I’m already looking forward to Welly Ball 2013!
