Every year, for one week only, St Andrews turns into a mini Hollywood for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. We love the celebrity spotting, the rumors, the excitement, and we even love the golf. After all, golf is the reason that Michael Phelps, Oscar Pistorius, Bill Murray, Jamie Redknapp, and a host of other sporting and non sporting celebs have descended upon our town for the week.

In years past, students would loiter in Ma Bells for a glimpse of Hugh Grant in the hopes that he would choose to once again frequent a student flat party. Hugh couldn’t make it this year, but fate has been kind and sent us Michael Phelps instead. A sign hanging from a window on Bell St. invited Michael to ‘dive in’ to their ‘huge bath.’ Michael has been instagramming photos of the tournament. Our favorite was one of him and Bill Murray at the 18th hole.

If you wear visible tartan to the stands on Sunday, you will receive free entry, and can celebrity spot and maybe watch a bit of golf. Let us know who you see, but just a word of warning: Mr. Phelps is ours!
