Imy is a third year, Art History student from Kent who genuinely seems to enjoy her studies. In fact, she claims that she has always loved art, which makes studying and getting her degree that much more enjoyable.
She loves many aspects of St Andrews, one of them being the tradition of academic families. Imy boasts of her ‘marriage,’ and her ‘five children,’ who she describes as “being really great.” Imy also enjoys the proximity of everything on campus as she is always running into friends and therefore never needs to make plans, which is great since she describes herself as lazy.
In reality, this ‘laziness’ is unfounded as Imy has started a catering venture in St Andrews called Gimme Dinner that is aimed at students wanting to host a dinner party or have friends over for supper but without the hassle, difficulty, and time that it takes to cook and clean up! The name Gimme Dinner is a colorful play on words as it combines the names of the two founders, herself and her friend Elizabeth Galbraith, better known as Gabs.
The meals sound delicious and include: pigs in blankets, Thai rare chicken soup, salmon risotto, roads, curries, chocolate brownies, and sticky ginger bread. The main inspiration behind starting her company was her love of cooking, especially for groups of people, and Gimme Dinner seemed like the next, logical progression. In particular, Imy loves cooking curry, which is inspired by the Indian spices her first year roommate from India gave her.
Gimme Dinner is perfect for the St Andrews dinner party culture as it means you can host a party and actually hang out with your friends instead of sweating over a oven. Imy hopes that business will be particularly popular on the weekends in university halls as food isn’t served then and before big events and balls. Her top tip for dinner parties is that candles are an essential, and her future plans for Gimme Dinner include homemade birthday cakes, so watch out!
