Alex Salmond: First Minister of Scotland

Alex Salmond grew up in Linlithgon, Scotland and attended St Andrews, graduating with degrees in Economics and History. Salmond began his career in economics, working as an economist for the Department of Agriculture and Fishery and then Royal Bank of Scotland. He then moved into his political career, and was elected as National Convener for the Scottish National Parliament in 1990. After leaving the Scottish Parliament in 1999, he was re-elected into the Scottish National Party in 2004, and then became the 1st Nationalist to be elected as First Minister of Scotland in 2007.
