Best Pumpkin Recipes to Get You in the Holiday Spirit

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at St. Andrews chapter.

It’s that time of the year again – pumpkin season!! Not only is pumpkin picking one of the quintessential Autumn activities, pumpkins are such a versatile and delicious gourd. There are so many wonderful recipes you can make, ranging from your appetizers to your desserts. I suppose you could even host an entirely pumpkin based feast, if you so desired, though how your guests would feel about that…  Nevertheless, here are some amazing recipes to inspire you :)

Soup – A Classic Appetizer Choice

1. Pumpkin Soup (BBC Good Food) – This is the classic pumpkin dish, and it is also heavenly. Absolutely perfect for those cold winter nights to come <3 The recipe linked takes only about 45 minutes from start to finish so it works great for those weekends when you have a bit more time to spend in the kitchen.

2. Pumpkin & Ginger Soup (Jamie Oliver) – This recipe is even better for your colds and other general winter ailments. The ginger really gives it that extra kick, and you can change the recipe to incorporate different herbs, like mint. And lastly, because it’s from Jamie Oliver, you know this soup is crazy good for you.

Pasta Dishes

3. Broccoli & Pumpkin Pasta (Weightloss.com) – I absolutely adore this recipe. It’s very easy to follow, and the oven-baked pumpkin is so delicious. I sometimes cheat and add goat’s cheese (instead of parmesan, as it says) to the recipe, just to give a little something extra. Feel free to play around with this! The choices are endless.

4. Pumpkin & Sage Spaghetti (BBC Good Food) – I cannot wait to try this, but I’ll probably change the spaghetti pasta to something like fusilli or even bowtie. It’s not as healthy as the previous pasta recipe, with its caster sugar and butter, but it does look delicious <3 You can also play around with this recipe to incorporate some more veggies, like spinach.

DESSERT – the best aspect of any meal

5. Pumpkin Bread (Betty Crocker) – I trust good old Betty with all of my dessert needs, and this recipe is no different. The bread is so moist and so damn good. You can change it up by using different spices or adding

6. Cinnamon Pumpkin Pie (Taste of Home) – The absolute best pumpkin recipe! I love pumpkin pie, and this just adds a bit more spice and kick to it. I usually add a dollop of whipped cream on top and some shaved chocolate as well. It’s also incredibly easy to make, with only 10 minutes to prep and about an hour to bake. Enjoy the cinnamon goodness <3
