Alice is on the left!
Alice is a third year student studying history, with the hope of potentially pursuing a career in law. Ending up in St Andrews – despite going to school at the other end of the country in Brighton – the attractiveness of the town drew her attention. Brighton and St Andrews are sharply contrasting locations; Alice maintains that she enjoys the slower and quieter pace of St Andrews.
Along with her studies, Alice is actively involved in a variety of charitable enterprises, most notably as president of the St Andrews Marrow Society. The Society works in conjunction with Anthony Noland Trust with the aims of encouraging students to join the stem cell register, raise awareness and additionally to fundraise. Alice insists that the process to join the register is simple, taking only around 10 minutes. She continues that in the unlikely event that you are a match – the pain is apparently equivalent to that of giving blood. Ultimately, the society aims to find matches for those suffering from Leukaemia and blood cancer. Personally affected by the importance of the societies undertaking, Alice became involved in Anthony Noland Trust at school; her uncle was fortunate to use the charity to have a successful match. The society has a variety of upcoming events for everyone to get involved in: a Valentine’s Day bake sale on the 13th February and a sign up session on the 16th February.
