9 Sweet Summer Treats

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at St. Andrews chapter.

Summer is almost on its way, and what better way to celebrate than through food? Warm weather immediately makes us think of popsicles and ice cream, and here we have for you a list of sweet summer treats to enjoy on a sunny day.

         1. Mango Orange Yogurt Popsicles: Many summer desserts involve fruits, and what better way to start off this list than with icy, tasty popsicles made from two of the most summery fruits, mango and orange? The yogurt is just an added bonus! Click here for the recipe.

        2. Lemon Ices: Lemon ices are a new, unique twist on the good old lemonade. It’s a snack that uses carved out lemons as cups, which are filled to the brim with lemon ice, which is just a juicer, zestier version of lemonade. How cool is that? Get the recipe here

          3. Lime Sherbert Punch: A chilly drink combining the zesty bite of lime with a dash of pineapple and lemon? Count me in! Find out how to make your own here

          4. Jello Ice Pops: Fruit jelly is one of my favourite treats on its own, so I am very excited at the idea of jelly ice pops with fruit – can’t wait to try this out!!

          5. Fudge Pops: Brown Eyed Baker is one of my favourite food and baking websites, with lots of wonderful ideas on summertime snacks, from crispy summer salads to unique ice cream desserts. Fudge pops was one dessert that caught my eye when I was browsing the website one afternoon – cooling off with fudge, what could be better? Adding banana or peanut butter can make the snack even more special :)

          6. Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes: Another treat that Brown Eyed Baker has convinced me to try over the summer are ice cream cone cupcakes, which combines two of my favourite things in the world ever: ice cream and cupcakes. Have you heard of anything more amazing?

         7. Caramel Popcorn Quick Pops: Craving caramel popcorn at the movies but wanting something more unique? Here’s just the thing, integrating the sweetness of caramel popcorn with the cool taste of popsicles. Yum.

         8. Strawberry-Orange Sorbet: Cool and appetising THE snack for a sunny day!

         9. Sunshine Pops: Last but not least, sunshine pops, a treat with a summery name :) Sunshine pops have all the different flavours of summer – cool and refreshing, a perfect complement for the fleeting warm weather. And I do love the colours.

Bon appetit!
