Ladies and gentlemen, the moment we have been anxiously waiting for, the finale of Dancing With the Stars! The show that kept me going throughout the quarter sadly came to a close on its 34th season. Five couples competed in three dances for first place: Judges’ choice (where a judge chooses a style the couple has not done yet), instant dance (blindly picking their dance style and song minutes before performing), and the freestyle (it’s exactly how it sounds: a dance that is not tied down to any style and has no rules). Here are my thoughts for the five contestants:

Alix Earle

Samba to “Hip Hip Chin Chin”

  • I liked it, but didn’t LOVE it
  • It doesn’t look like she messed up, but there was something off about it
  • Maybe her facials were off?
  • Judges’ scores: 10,10,10

Cha Cha to “Where is My Husband”

  • I don’t like the instant dances; they seem so anxiety-inducing
  • I also don’t like seeing dances that are put together minutes before they go on stage, they are not performed at their best level and seem like a waste of time
  • I think she did great for having little to no time
  • Judges’ scores: 10,10,10 (I am so shocked by this)

Freestyle to a mashup of “Maneater” and “Fast Car”

  • She looked stunning and performed the heck out of her freestyle!
  • She really knows how to serve face
  • Judges’ scores: 10,10,10

Dylan Efron

Paso Doble to “Stampede”

  • I think what is holding him back from being a standout is his facial expressions
  • Judges’ scores: 9,9,10

Foxtrot to “Ordinary”

  • I think that was better than Alix’s
  • It was clean and sophisticated. I’m surprised at how well he did
  • Judges’ scores: 10,10,10

Freestyle to “Something In The Heavens”

  • Adding water to any dance elevates it
  • His unpointed feet made the dancer in me cringe I won’t lie
  • I love that he put his all into the show, and I love Daniella’s freestyles so much!
  • Judges’ scores: 10,10,10

Elaine Hendrix

Rumba to “Take My Breath Away”

  • Yes yes yes yes yes!
  • That. Was. Fabulous!
  • Rumba is hard to do in the finale, but she looked stunning and executed it to the max
  • Judges’ scores: 10,10,10

Quickstep to “You Can’t Hurry Love”

  • Definitely some timing issues, but so proud of her for dancing with a smile on her face
  • Judges’ scores: 9,9,9

Freestyle to “I Hope I Get It (from A Chorus Line)”

  • Performance and production were top-tier
  • I loved how different it was from other freestyle dances
  • The colors of the costumes were so aesthetically pleasing
  • That was my favorite freestyle of the night so far
  • Judges’ scores: 10,10,10

Robert Irwin

Quickstep to “Are You Gonna Be My Girl”

  • He brings the energy EVERY TIME
  • Thank goodness he shaved that beard
  • Dancing is 10/10, and so are the outfits!
  • There were some little things here or there that were off – like the timing of the kip-up and some head movements, but his dancing was on point!
  • Judges’ scores: 9,10,10

Cha Cha to “Cake by the Ocean”

  • I was scared – his cha cha last time was not his best dance
  • I saw an improvement from his first cha cha
  • Obviously, timing issues, but again, he had minutes to practice, so I am not surprised
  • Judges’ scores: 10,10,10 (I am also shocked at this – the judges are not beating the favoritism allegations)

Freestyle to “Black & Gold” and “The Nights”

  • He NEEDS that mirror ball; it’s not even funny anymore
  • He ENTERTAINS like no other
  • I loved the fast and slow movements and song changes; it really had it all
  • Witney’s freestyles are legit and outshine most others
  • Judges’ scores: 10,10,10

Jordan Chiles

Paso Doble to “Breakin’ Dishes”

  • Her hair and outfit EATS
  • That might be my favorite dance of hers!
  • I thought she killed that and gave it her all
  • Judges’ scores: 9,10,10

Tango to “I Like It”

  • Loved the way they got into their dance
  • For an instant dance, that was great!
  • Judges’ scores: 10,10,10

Freestyle to “Motivation”

  • I KNEW SHE WAS GONNA BRING IT
  • The gasp I let out when I saw Queen Normani pop out!!
  • I am so glad they went last, that was the best freestyle to end the night!
  • Judges’ scores: 10,10,10

After what feels like hundreds of commercials, the winners of season 34 of Dancing With the Stars were finally revealed! The winners were . . .

ROBERT AND WITNEY! I kid you not, I jumped up and down and cheered as soon as their names were called. These two have been my winners since day one, and I am so glad that Witney got another mirrorball, eleven years after her first one. This season overall had lots of talent, and it’s crazy that over 72 million people voted during the finale alone. I am so glad that new viewers were introduced to the show and gave it a rebirth. I am already looking forward to next year and seeing the cast! Here are the top five finalists in order:

  1. Robert Irwin
  2. Alix Earle
  3. Jordan Chiles
  4. Dylan Efron
  5. Elaine Hendrix
