On Saturday, April 22nd Spelmanites will vote for who we want to bear the title of 2017-2018 Mr. Blue and White. As voting approaches, the Her Campus team would like to showcase the contestants and their platforms. Remember, our Mr. Blue and White should be a reflection of all Spelmanites and a brother, friend, and advisor to all.

Contestant #5 is Justin Lee
Justin Lee is a Junior Marketing Major, Sales Minor at Morehouse College. Hailing from New Orleans, Louisiana, he intends to one day become a small business mogul and real estate investor.
Over the course of his time at Morehouse, Justin has been actively involved in various student lead organizations. He is a member of CASA where he serves as the Intake Chair, an NSO Leader, the Captain of Morehouse College’s Sales Team, and is also the Vice Basileus (President) of The Bloody Psi chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated.
Justin is running on a P.rotection O.f W.omanhood (POW) platform. Through this platform he intends to secure the minds of Spelmanites by providing us with the reassurance that we are safe from social injustices, sexual assault, and abuse (both physical and mental).
“As a man in (today’s) society it is extremely disheartening to hear that women in our generation do not feel safe. Socially, women have a biased viewpoint in society for gender roles. More commonly, it is assumed that women who interact with multiple men are known as sexually promiscuous regardless of their sexual encounters”, began Justin.
“Statistics state that one in every four women in college have experienced some sort of sexual assault. On a college campus one in every three women experience physical abuse by an intimate partner. This results in women having a negative mindset that the actions of a man will result in hurt, pain, and fear. My platform ‘POW’ will highlight different opportunities to showcase another side of men in our society and specifically the examples we set at Morehouse”.
Mr. Blue and White, like his Spelman sisters, is a change agent. Justin Lee is dedicated to being that and more for his sisters.
“I want to be Mr. Blue and white because I feel that a person socially, academically, and professionally involved on campus should represent Spelman College. As a man who not only fills but exceeds those standards, I feel as though I am the perfect candidate”, said Justin. “As the male liaison of Spelman College I would be directly involved with the student body, as well as the administration. With the backing of the title of Mr. Blue and White I’m sure that I can actively make a change”.
