5 Summer Opportunities Still Open

With almost exactly one month left of the Spring semester the pressure is at an all time high to not only continue performing well, but to secure the bag and land a good summer opportunity. It is early April, who’s still looking for interns? you’re wondering. Contrary to popular belief, the search is still in full swing and companies are looking for you: Spelmanites. 

Below are 5 summer opportunities or opportunities that you can take advantage of. 

1. The Alliance Theatre Spelman Leadership Internship and Fellowship Program- Due April 14, 2017 (Atlanta, GA).

This is a paid, year long (starting August 14th, 2017) internship exclusive to rising Spelman seniors. The theatre offers opportunities in the following areas: marketing and communications, finance, community engagement and outreach, season planning and new work development, arts education programming, theatre for young audiences, theatre production, development and fundraising, and casting and production. 

 If you enjoy learning about new cultures, working with not-for-profit organizations and helping address issues surrounding people of color this internship is for you. This is a $15 per hour paid internship. After completing the internship, you will be eligible to apply for a two-year fellowship with the Alliance Theatre following your internship. 

To apply, submit a resume, transcript, two letters of recommendation (one from a professor and another from someone familiar with your work ethic), and a 500-750 word essay on how your aspirations and skills would best synchronize with the programs and mission of the theatre.

2. Fox Sports Network South Digital/Social Media Summer Internship (Atlanta, GA)

Fox Sports is looking for a dedicated intern to join their digital/social media team this summer! If you have a love for Atlanta sports, journalism, and communications this internship is for you!

Selected interns will be responsible for editing and posting videos onto the teams social media and website, managing team websites, providing written content for the networks’ sports properties, and assisting in the day to day content curation for social media accounts.

3. Columbia Business School- Summer Research Intern (New York)- Due April 14, 2017

This internship is perfect for someone interesting in a career in business management, marketing, finance, operations, and accounting; but keep in mind that research is very reading and writing intensive

Selected students, under the guidance of Columbia Business School’s leading faculty, will take on a research project in one of the following areas: Finance, Economics, Marketing, Management, Decision Sciences, Operations, Accounting, and Data Analytics.

The program runs from May 30, 2017 – August 4, 2017 (tentative dates). On-campus housing and a stipend will be provided.

4. Univision Summer Internship (Miami, FL)- News, Digital, PR or Advertising- Due April 14, 2017

Univision is looking to recruit top talent for their Internship program to join their mission of informing, entertaining, and empowering U.S. Hispanic consumers. This internship is perfect for students looking to obtain communications experience. 

The program runs from June 5- August 11 and is a full time, paid opportunity. 

Requirements are as followed: Must be a rising junior, senior or recent 2017 graduate, must have a 3.0 or above GPA, must be 18 years old or older, must be willing to submit to a background investigation, must be willing to work from offices in Miami, FL, and must have unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S.

5. 12th Annual GACE Statewide Career Fair

Take advantage of the career fair this Wednesday, April 12th, 2017 from 11am until 3pm at Cobb Galleria’s Exhibit A. This is a great opportunity to find a last minute summer internship and possibly a fall internship or a job. 

There will be 40 colleges and universities and also 100 plus companies in attendance.
