September 21st marked the beginning of Fall 2019 and I couldn’t be more excited! Cool weather, pumpkin patches, and cozy sweaters are just a few of my favorite things. But one thing that I never seem to get right during fall is finding the perfect date(s).  I always find myself seeing these cute dates on Instagram and Pinterest but always come up short and end up doing the same old basic things like going to the movies or dinner which are classic timeless dates but for the fall it’s time to step it up. So, I’ve done some research and put together my top 10 fall date ideas.

TAKE A POTTERY CLASS

Handmade pottery is so personal and intimate especially, making pottery with a significant other. It is definitely something you and your s/o will remember and it makes a great decorative piece.

GOING APPLE PICKING

When I think of fall, I see Johnny Appleseed and his apple tree and what’s better than picking fresh juicy apples with your s/o? You can pick bushels of apples to have for all your fall baking and most orchids have ciders, pies, and other goodies to make for a great date.

HAVE TONS OF FUN AT A FAIR/FESTIVAL

Fall is the season of fairs and festivals. My favorite thing about fall is going to the fair and festivals. It’s cool enough to be outside for long periods of time and it’s a great photo op. And 9/10 your date will win you that stuffed animal you’ve been eyeing all night.

GOING ON A SCENIC HIKE

Now this date isn’t for those that don’t enjoy long walks or occasional climbing. But for those that do go on a scenic hike can be a good way to get to know your partner on a deeper physical and mental level. And who doesn’t love a good fall scenery?

GOING ON A SCENIC ROAD TRIP

A nice day trip up to the mountains, taking a scenic route, is probably the most romantic thing ever. Just you and your s/o taking in all the beauty nature has to offer.

PAINT AND PICNIC

Find a nice park in the heart of fall, a woven picnic basket, paint supplies, canvases and you have the optimal date for those who love food and enjoy being together. And who knows you may be a Picasso in the making.

HALLOWEEN THEMED MOVIE NIGHT

Snuggle up on the couch with your fuzzy socks, blanket, a bowl of popcorn and turn on Hocus Pocus (the BEST Halloween movie ever). This is a great chill date when you want to stay inside for the night or weekend.

EXPERIENCE A HAUNTED HOUSE

Okay. This one is not for the faint of heart. So, if you don’t like scary things don’t go on this date. However, haunted houses can be a great way to get close to your date in a natural setting. Which is always a good thing.

LAY UP AND WATCH THE STARS

This is my favorite date of all time! Laying with your s/o and watching the night sky is so romantic and for some reason, the sky is always so clear in the fall, the perfect time to stargaze.

STUDY DATE AT A COZY COFFEEHOUSE

Even though you can get lost in the beauty of fall school is still in session. So, to combat the stress of school try a nice coffee date to get some work done and catch up to relieve some stress and enjoy the nice ambiance.

Spelman '22

Hey! My name is Akira Allen and I am a sophomore biology major on the pre-med track at the illustrious Spelman College. I am originally from Washington D.C. but currently reside in Warner Robins, Georgia. From the time I was about 4 I knew I wanted to help people, and I loved science. I mean the first big word I spelled was photosynthesis. So, being a doctor just felt right. I believe being a surgeon will allow me to combine my two passions. In the last 4 years or so I have become very passionate about advocacy and activism. Coming to a place like Spelman has helped me to expand this passion further. I am so excited to be apart of the HerCampus Spelman team as a content writer! I believe we are going to achieve great and meaningful things.
