This article highlights voting options for South Carolina residents. Be sure to check with your home state’s board of elections for voting rules.

1. Voting In-Person

Voting in-person in 2020 is very similar to past years. As always, you’ll need a valid photo ID to show when you get to your assigned polling location. If you’re unsure of your polling location and are a South Carolina resident, you can easily find out if you’re registered and all of the information related to your voter status – including the polling location – at https://www.scvotes.gov/

2. Absentee In-Person Voting

Absentee in-person voting is a process that runs between Monday, October 5, 2020 to Monday, November 2, 2020. This year, everyone has the option to vote early due to the “state of emergency” reasoning. All you have to do is fill out the application for absentee voting by 5:00pm, Saturday, October 24 and check out the dates and hours for polling location based on where you live.

3. Absentee Vote By Mail

The final option for voting for the 2020 election is voting via a ballot received in the mail. Just like you have to fill out an application using the “state of emergency” reasoning for absentee in-person voting, you have to fill out the same application for absentee vote by mail. The same rules apply that everyone has the option to vote by mail and this form must be received by 5:00pm, Saturday, October 24. With this method, you’ll receive your absentee ballot in the mail. Once you get it, you have to fill it out and return it by mail or personally deliver it to your county voter registration office. When filling it out, be sure to follow all the directions and sign the voter oath and have your signature witnessed.

Regardless of what voting method you choose, make sure you vote in the 2020 Election! Don’t pass up the opportunity to have a voice and make a change for the country.
