Oscars 2016 Red Carpet Recap

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at South Carolina chapter.

Ah, the 2016 Oscars. Where you pretend to know every movie that’s nominated but you’re actually just waiting to see if Leo will wins his first Oscar. There were many other well-deserved wins of the night on the big screen, on stage, and the red carpet. Here are our favorite looks of the night:

Chrissy Teigen was glowing in this Marchesa piece that she had to be sewn into! She makes pregnancy look fabulous.

Brie Larson took home an Oscar last night and looked like royalty while doing it in this ruffled, custom Gucci gown. She took home the Oscar for Best Actress for her role in Room.

I think it’s safe to saw J-Law never disappoints on the red carpet and this year was no different. She was looking very sultry in this sheer, lace Dior dress. She may have not won an Oscar, but this is by far one of the best red carpet looks to date for Jennifer Lawrence. #slay

Alicia Vikander channeled her inner Disney Princess in this Belle-esqe design by Louis Vuitton. She also took home a win last night for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in The Danish Girl.

Cate Blanchett looked elegant in this Armani Privé floral detailed piece. This Tiffany blue was the perfect color for her. #queen

Rooney Mara made jaws drop in this cutout, lace Givenchy dress. This look is the perfect combination of edgy and feminine.

Regina George, is that you? Rachel McAdams was drop-dead gorgeous wearing this emerald green August Getty Atelier.

Charlize Theron was looking red hot in Dior Haute Couture. Can I look this good when I’m 40? She starred in Mad Max which took home six Oscars for the most wins of the night.

Lady Gaga was a vision in white in this Brandon Maxwell piece. She not only stole the show on the red carpet but also in her powerful performance of Til it Happens to You. Check out the performance here.

Saoirse Ronan looked like a fierce mermaid in this custom Calvin Klein gown. She’s already received two Oscar nominations and she’s only 21. #boss

That’s a wrap on our favorite looks of the 2016 Academy Awards! Can’t wait for next years award season already. Oh, and congrats to the #1 guy in our hearts, Leo, for finally taking home a win!
