Must Try New Restaurants In Columbia

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at South Carolina chapter.

Columbia has been expanding their food palette lately with several new restaurants opening up! With all these new options, it’s a thrilling time to explore and be adventurous by checking them out!

Banh Mi Boys

625 Whaley St Suite C, Columbia, SC 29201

  • Banh Mi Boys is a popular and long time coming Vietnamese fusion restaurant! Their menu features a variety of banh mi sandwiches, wings and kimchi fries. As a Vietnamese, I can say the banh mi are decently authentic with the pickle carrots and cilantro, but they do have some odd flavors that you wouldn’t normally see.
The Dragon Room

803 Gervais St, Columbia, SC 29201

  • Another Asian fusion restaurant on the list is The Dragon Room! This new establishment shares the same owner with Black Rooster and Bourbon. With a variety of pan-Asian dishes and small plates, it’s the perfect way to enjoy an elegant dinner date or to have drinks with some friends!
Burnin99 & KPOT

1150 Bower Parkway Units F6A and F6B, Columbia, SC 29212

280 Harbison Blvd Unit Q, Columbia, SC 29212

  • Anyone who knows me, knows I LOVE Korean food! So with two new Korean restaurants in town, you know I’m going to be eating well. Both restaurants have very similar food options – hot pot and Korean barbeque. When you visit either one you’ll typically be seated at a table equipped with a built-in grill. You’ll have a diverse selection to choose from like pork belly, seafood, vegetables, and various dipping sauces. You’ll have the option to do both hot pot and barbeque, or you can just choose one. The only real difference between the two is that Burnin 99 is buffet style, while KPot requires you to tell the server what you want.
7Brew

7234 Garners Ferry Rd, Columbia, SC 29209

  • 7Brew is opening two new locations in Columbia, one on Garners Ferry and the other on Beltline! This cute coffee drive-thru had my heart the moment they handed me my caramel macchiato completely loaded with delicious caramel drizzle and syrup! If you’re like me and like your coffee more for the sugar rather than the caffeine, please get their caramel macchiato! It tastes very similar to a Vietnamese iced coffee! Other than that, they have a variety of coffees, teas, smoothies, and shakes!
Dave’s Hot Chicken

4601 Devine St, Columbia, SC 29205

  • Dave’s Hot Chicken is a popular fast food franchise specializing in Nashville-style hot chicken! They offer a range of heat levels, allowing customers to customize their spice preferences. The menu includes tender, crispy fried chicken as sandwiches, sliders, or tenders, along with a variety of sides like kale slaw and fries.
