Hear me out: Halloween is the most open, inclusive holiday. It’s too easy to say it’s the best or that it should be celebrated for longer, because that’s just given in my opinion. There is no set limit to when spooky season really starts and the festivities begin, which allows people to celebrate and have undiluted fun for a much longer time than most other holidays. It’s the time of year where fall activities merge with Halloween excitement. There are no limitations.

During spooky season, you can be whoever you want to be. Every costume party allows you the chance to assume the mask of whatever character you’re fascinated by and be free from your life for a little while. There’s so much more to Halloween than trick-or-treating; it provides escapism, identity exploration and creative freedom.

It also has the best d*mn parties.

If you haven’t had your costume planned since September and you need a few ideas to get the creativity brewing, then I’ve got you.

Without further adieu, here are some killer costume options that are sure to make you feel great and win any contest this 2022 Halloween season.

“The witcher”

It’s no secret that Henry Cavill made that Netflix adaptation. If I don’t see Geralt of Rivia strolling the streets this month, I think my heart may break.

To be fair, this costume will take some effort to execute, but I think that’s part of the fun.

“Elvis”

This obviously needs a comeback after Austin Butler’s performance. Who doesn’t love a little flare and sparkle?

“Bridgerton” character

We all need an excuse to wear a gown and feel exquisite sometimes. I once thrifted a whole ballgown, so don’t tell me this one is too extra.

“rings of power” character

If I don’t see elves or anything else from the Lord of the Rings world, I don’t know what Halloween is anymore.

“house of the dragon” character

The Game of Thrones universe has come back and I couldn’t be happier, which is why I need it to manifest into Halloween costumes this year.

“Euphoria” character

The outfits in this series have been devastatingly hot and it would be a wasted opportunity to not pull out the color liner, gems and two-piece fits.

anyone from the “dr. who” universe

Where are my little Whovians? My David Tennant lovers? I would cry on sight if I saw a Ten and a Rose at a party this year. Bonus points if it’s a couple because my soul needs that.

“The Boys” character

The “hero” costumes in this series are fire. This series is also fire. For those savvy enough at cosplay, this one is for you.

Sabrina from the “chilling adventures of sabrina”

Whatever your thoughts are on this series, you can’t tell me the outfits here weren’t amazing. Give me a retro, coordinated skirt and sweater combo, a headband and some cute shoes with tall socks and we’re golden.

Megara from “hercules”

Need I explain? Maybe this one is a bit niche but I’m okay with that. Honestly, any Greek or Roman type fit would be delicious.

Eddie from “Stranger Things”

This character deserves everything – including the memorialization that Halloween gives. Grab a Hellfire Club shirt, a denim jacket and some Upside-Down-stomping boots to give Eddie the proper tribute. Metallica music required.

I’m sure there will be many Top Gun men, Marvel characters, a cornucopia of Mr. Styles, and a slew of timeless DIY costumes out there. No hate to those (especially Mr. Styles). I do think this year has given us an array of options to choose from and get creative with and we should take advantage of it.

I hope we can all really enjoy this Halloween season the way we want to this year, as safely as possible. We deserve the freedom this season brings.

Happy spooky season! May one of these costume ideas inspire you, make you feel good, and win you a contest prize, bestie.
