College is an interesting time. For many of us, it is the first time we have been away from our parents, the first time we have lived on our own, and the first time that we have truly felt independent. There is so much to do and so many new experiences to be had. Amidst all the chaos, it can be hard to have a social life and to do things you enjoy while also getting your school work done. Hard as it may be, it is doable, and it really comes down to how you manage your time.

College is so much more than just school work. Obviously, we are here to get a degree, but we can still have fun at the same time! It’s all about finding that perfect balance. To help find that, I like to plan out my weeks ahead of time and write down all my assignments/exams that are coming up, first and foremost. This gives me an idea of how much time I will need to dedicate to my school work for the upcoming week. You could also set goals for the week, write down your intentions, or whatever works best for you.

Beyond schoolwork, I like to set aside at least one night a week to go out with my friends. No matter what’s going on, I always feel refreshed and happy after I get to have fun. I like to think of it as both a reward and a very necessary outing for my mind.

I think that the most essential part of when it comes to balancing life in college is to focus on not overburdening yourself. Handle your responsibilities, have some fun, and take care of yourself. Taking on too many responsibilities will only leave you feeling more stressed and overwhelmed.

In addition to everything else, it is vitally important that you also take care of your wellbeing. The key to preforming well is being in the right health space to do it. Try making time for exercise, eating healthy foods that will nourish your body, and staying hydrated.

I think that the key takeaway of this article is to make sure you are taking time to really enjoy this stage of life you are in and everything around you. It goes faster than you think – so get out there and make some dang good memories while you can!!!
