Almost a year and a half ago, I wrote an article about why certain ingredients in your skincare, such as sulfates and parabens, might be doing your skin more harm than good. Since then, I have been on the search for great skincare products that don’t have these ingredients. Luckily, more and more brands are switching from these ingredients, just like me. However, one brand that really stood out to me was Sweet Chef. about a month ago, I received their Carrot Ginger and Salicylic Acid Pore Cleanser as well as their Carrot Ginger Blemish Rescue Patches as an opportunity to try and promote their products. Since I’ve made the switch, I’ve realized that a lot more goes into finding the right products aside from sulfates and parabens. My skin is naturally oily, so I had to find a cleanser that exfoliates, but isn’t too harsh. Finding that balance was really hard, but it was totally worth it. Below I explain why these Sweet Chef products were key in my skincare journey as well as why this brand is worth your money.

About the brand

So, I’m not going to lie to you. Sweet Chef is a little on the pricier side of cleansers. I knew this going in, so I did a little bit more research on the company, just so I knew where my money would be going if I committed. I was so happy to find out that the brand is vegan as well as cruelty free. While I’m not vegan, I instantly felt better knowing the ethics behind the brand. I also found out that their products are recyclable. This was a big deal to me because I believe that small changes make big differences! The extra effort to be as eco-friendly as possible was definitely a good sign. They also don’t include Mineral Oil, Silicones, Phthalates, Drying Alcohols, Essential Oils, Synthetic Dyes and Fragrances in their products. A lot of these ingredients can be considered irritants or comedogenic, so this was HUGE for me and my sensitive skin! In addition to all of these great signs, I found out that Sweet Chef offers a student discount, which gives you 15% off of your order!

But, I had to ask myself: what makes Sweet Chef different? I found that all of the brand’s products were powered by plants. This is really cool to me because I want my skincare to be as natural as possible after seeing what synthetic chemicals, such as plastic and preservatives, can to do the environment and my skin. It also reminds me of when I used to do at-home yogurt face masks…but this is a bit more sophisticated!

Carrot Ginger and Salicylic Acid Pore Cleanser

I cannot stop talking about this cleanser! Before I was acquainted with Sweet Chef, I used a cleanser and then an exfoliant afterwards, but it ended up breaking me out more often times than not. Yet, I needed an exfoliant or my skin got these tiny clogged pores that turned into cysts. This cleanser was a game changer. My skin is no longer an oily mess, but literally lowing when I wake up! If you do not have this cleanser, run to the website and add to cart!

Carrot Ginger Blemish Rescue Patches

The patches are amazing for a few reasons, the first one being that they have cute little carrot designs on them and they help me stop picking at my face. The other reason is because they come in multiple sizes in each box! I had previously been using skincare patches, but I was annoyed at using huge patches for tiny blemishes or not having a patch big enough for my cysts. This option has it all. They even have ones that come in longer strips for when you break out in a specific area.

Since making the switch, my skin has cleared up enormously, which was really surprising to me, since I had always thought that my acne was hormonal. Now, don’t get me wrong, I still get flare ups. But, they aren’t the kind that are huge, painful, and extremely noticeable. I never realized how much my confidence was tied to my skin until it got better and I suddenly didn’t feel the need to wear color corrector and foundation and concealer (crazy, right?). All in all, I’ve been very pleased with my Sweet Chef skincare journey and I hope that you make the decision to switch with me, or even just to cut out sulfates and parabens because it does make a difference!
