Phases You Go Through While Drinking a Cup of Coffee

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Sonoma chapter.

Anyone who is an avid coffee drinker knows that it isn’t just about how you feel after, but that it’s about the feelings you get before and during that truly make a cup of coffee the happiest drink on Earth.

I go through a series of phases that start the second the idea of a cup of coffee enters my mind. Do you?

1. The initial little ping you get in your stomach the moment you realize you want, no NEED a cup of coffee.

2. It becomes all you can think about as you scramble to the car to head to Starbs or as you fumble around at home to grab the coffee grounds.

3. Your mouth begins to water as you smell the delicious aroma brewing.

4. It’s finished, it’s poured, it’s in the cup, it’s warm in your hands (or cold I suppose if you swing that iced coffee way.)

5. You take a nice deep sniff.

6. You take that first sip and as it hits your tounge you know you have made it.

7. Each sip is better than the last.

8. You are a little sad you when reach the end and look at the empty cup.

9. But, now you have the energy and the pep to continue on with your day!

10. You might even think about getting a second cup later.

Carly is one of the CCs for Sonoma State University, and she is majoring in communications and minoring in sociology. She grew up in southern California, and even though she misses the warm beach, she really enjoys living in wine country in northern CA. She has always had a passion for writing and is so grateful that Her Campus allows her to share that love and encourage others to join in the fun.
