This week I was lucky enough to get a hold of the infamous @SSUGuyProbs who seems to be making a name for himself across campus. Most know him for his entertaining Tweets in the Twittersphere, mainly regarding the Social and Greek Life scenes here at SSU. While some see his Tweets as harmless jabs at individuals at SSU, others feel that they have crossed a line.
Â
“People are taking what he says way too seriously,” said alumni Anthony Rollins. “It’s obviously just a joke, people need to grow up and just realize it’s funny.”
Â
Not everyone agrees however.
Â
“Most everyone that I talk to thinks it’s annoying,” said senior Mina Masoudi.  “If you want to say what you feel, own up to it.  Hiding behind twitter is obnoxious.”
Â
Her Campus Sonoma State sat down with the notorious SSUGuyProbs and here’s what he had to say:
Â
1. Where did your inspiration for this twitter account come from? Â What did you hope would come from it? Â Did you expect to get this much attention?
Â
SSUGuyProbs: The inspiration for the GuyProbs account was simple: I thought SSUGirlProbz was really great and I thought I could do almost as well with a guy version. I didn’t really have many expectations for the account I just thought I could entertain a few people. I recently surpassed her follower numbers which was really exciting cause I’ve always really admired her.
Â
2. Â Everyone wants to know; are you actually in a fraternity here at SSU? Â (you don’t have to say which one or anything) Â Your tweets tend to throw people in all kinds of directions of who you actually are. Â A lot of your tweets seem to be against Greek Life, would you say this is true?
Â
SSUGuyPRobs: I am in a fraternity, but I like to tweet as though I’m in a different fraternity every now and then just to keep people guessing. I wouldn’t say my tweets are anti-Greek Life in general. I am obsessed with Greek Life; I think it is the best social opportunity in college. I am partially anti-SONOMA Greek Life because its watered-down compared to a lot of other schools. With no Greek housing, ridiculous hazing rules that have nothing to do with actual hazing, etc. I have a hard time not making fun of the Greek environment here.
Â
3. Â You’ve previously tweeted how others are finding out who you really are, how did that happen exactly? Â Are you telling people or is it just people guessing correctly? Â
Â
SSUGuyProbs: Some people found out who I am because they’re almost eerily obsessed with playing detective and I’ve been careless in the past. Others I’ve just told because I can trust them and wouldn’t mind their creative input. I’ve left a few clues throughout the tweets if anyone was extremely vigilant they might have figured it out.
Â
4. Â There are rumors that the account might be run by multiple people, what do you have to say about this?Â
Â
SSUGuyProbs: I hear people saying that the account is run by multiple people all the time, but it really isn’t. I’m not sure what else to say about that.
5. Â Some think your tweets have been considered harsh and there are organizations out there asking their members to stop following you. Â What would you say to this? Â Do you think some of your tweets have been too harsh?
Â
SSUGuyProbs: I understand if certain organizations are suggesting their members unfollow me. I’ve definitely made some mistakes with my posting and I’ve apologized for them, but if people can’t understand that the tweets are all jokes then that’s kind of sad.
Â
6. Â How long do you think you can keep being anonymous? Â Do you plan on revealing yourself anytime soon? Â Do you often hear people talk about the twitter account around you?
Â
SSUGuyProbs: I think I can be anonymous forever because as long as I never admit anything, no one can really be sure. I don’t actually plan on revealing myself at all. I had a really funny plan to reveal myself around the end of this school year, but I had to cancel that due to recent complications and scandals with my tweets. I’ll probably end up passing the account down to someone if I can find someone hilarious. I hear people talk about the account all the time and it’s the most fulfilling part of the ‘job’. It makes me laugh and laugh.
Â
7. Would you say that what you tweet about is the real you or more of a personality that you like to portray to be funny?
Â
SSUGuyProbs: It’s a combination of the two. Its partially the real me just venting and partially completely fabricated just to be funnier.
