8 Reasons Why Living With Your Best Friends Is Like Living With Your Sister

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Sonoma chapter.

If you grew up having sisters, you are very familiar with how being a sister works. You argue and complain about her annoying little habits are but at the end of the day you cannot imagine yourself bickering with anyone else. Currently, I am living with three of my best friends and I recently noticed we act like sisters from different misters rather than just roommates. I’ve only known them for about 2 years but we act as if we’ve known each other since birth. If you are living with some of your best friends, these are things you can totally relate to.

1) You Share Clothes

Your closet is their closet, and their closet is yours. Every morning when I am deciding what I want to wear, I usually go through their clothes to try to find something I haven’t worn before. It’s like shopping without having to spend the money, and you have endless amounts of outfits to choose from.

2) You Basically Have the Same Parents

You call their parents mom and dad, and they address your parents as mom and dad as well. Their parents watch out for you as if you were their actual child and even joke about adopting you as their own.

3) You Can Stay Up Late, Just to Talk

One of my favorite things to do is stay up late to just talk about anything. Sometimes, my roommate and I lay in the dark and just talk about our days. We talk about something that bothered us that day, or something really good that happened. It’s like therapy, without having to go to therapy. Who needs a professional when you have your best friend?

4) You Feel Like You’ve Known Them Your Whole Life

You know their pet peeves, they know yours. When you live with someone, you quickly learn all the little things that make them special. You know their pet peeves, their Starbucks order, their class schedule – and you bet they know yours too.

5) You Are 100% Honest With Each Other

Whether it’s telling them that the actions they took were wrong, or simply telling them their outfit looks off, you are always completely honest with each other. Honesty is key, and you know they wouldn’t have it any other way.

6) You Support Each Other’s Crazy Ideas

You support them getting a new haircut, or a new crazy hair color. You support them when they decide it’s time to commit a spontaneous act, and heck, most of the time you tag along for the ride.

7) You Bicker, AT LEAST 23 Hours A Day

You find the smallest things to bicker about, and sometimes you do it just to annoy them. You act like an old married couple but you know that at the end of the day the bickering with them is what you look forward to in your day.

8) You Love Each Other Regardless Of the Circumstances

Regardless of the fights, bickering, and teasing each other, you know they love you more than you love them and you know you wouldn’t have it any other way!
