People are always talking about attitude. However, we tend to forget to reflect on our own attitude towards things. The way you present and carry yourself not only says something about what you care about, but also the way you feel about yourself. If you are not confident, self-assured and ready to take on the world, people can sense it. The best motto that relates to this is “fake it until you make it.” This does not mean be someone you aren’t, but by giving off the impression that you are ready for anything life may throw at you (even if you may not be), people will be more confident in you.

Any time I am feeling down and lost, I will call my dad and he continuously reminds me how my attitude reflects to people what I want in life. If I beat myself up, then I am opening up the opportunity for others to beat me up to (metaphorically of course!). I am reminded that my positive attitude not only transfers to others, but that I will also become happier. By appearing and presenting myself in a more positive way, I began to feel better about myself and realize that everything will always work out and it’s okay if everything isn’t perfect.

Having a positive and uplifting attitude will bring those around you positivity as well. People can sense your emotions even if you try hiding them, so becoming a more positive driven person will increase the possibility of the person next to you becoming a positive driven person. Thus, creating a wonderful chain effect.

If something is out of your control and going wrong, having a negative attitude won’t make it better. Being negative about a slight inconvenience will not solve the problem nor make you feel better. Don’t get me wrong mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-fareast-font-family:Calibri;mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin;mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-bidi-font-family:”Times New Roman”; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;mso-ansi-language:EN-US;mso-fareast-language: EN-US;mso-bidi-language:AR-SA”>— I love throwing temper tantrums, but once I’m done I have to pick myself up and move on with a newfound positive attitude to go and achieve anything.

Having a better attitude in comparison to those around you will, in the end, benefit you. There is not one person who doesn’t enjoy reaping the benefits for themselves. By having a more straightforward attitude about things, you become more honest with yourself, and subsequently those around you. No successful businesswoman or billionaire looks at themselves in shame; they are proud, even of their failures. You have to embrace your strengths (and weaknesses) in a way that will be healthy for you.

Take-aways:

-Find someone you can talk to who will really listen to you and encourage you.

-Realize what the big issues are and what the small issues are. Most things are going to be small and they shouldn’t negatively effect your mood.

-Those around you are watching and listening- give them something good to see and hear.

-You are the only person who can change you, be willing and ready to see your weaknesses and turn them into strengths.
